We start the film with Ting (Pitchanart Sakakorn – SATURDAY KILLER, SOP DEK 2002) an aspiring young actress who is asked to be a part of a series of police re-enactments. Jumping at the chance of a life time Ting becomes a famous face leading to a role in a soap opera. However what Ting really wants is to be a part of the re-enactment for the murder of her favourite model/actress Meen (Apasiri Nitibhon – KHU GAM). To get ready for the role Ting begins to watch old television footage of Meen to get into character. As Ting delves deeper into Meen's psyche she begins to see ghostly images of Meen and the other women she has played in re-enactments. The ghost of Meen tells Ting that the police have the wrong killer which leads to Ting conducting her own investigation into the murder.
If you can put up with the change in the story then you will really enjoy this film. THE VICTIM is a true example of how a decent supernatural horror film should be. I am glad I have seen a film by Arayangkoon which doesn’t suck but this also leaves me thinking what will his next film be like? The House was originally released AFTER this film so will his next film fall flat like THE HOUSE did? I hope not.
If you like supernatural horror with some good acting then THE VICTIM is a good choice...but stay away from THE HOUSE.
