After the murder of his father Nerio, largo Winch (Tomer Sisley – LARGO WINCH, THE NATIVITY STORY) finds himself in control of his father’s business. But the power that comes with it all is not what Largo is looking for in his life , leading to Largo, along with Nerio’s oldest friend, selling the group to help fund the creation of a humanitarian foundation.
The very day the agreement is signed Largo is accused of complicity in crimes against humanity. International prosecutor Diane Franken (Sharon Stone) suspects him of having paid off - four years previously, for his father's benefit - notorious Burmese General Kyaw Min, after the displacement of a mineral-rich native village on behalf of the W Group turned into a massacre. And she has a witness.
The witness is no other than Malunaï, the beautiful Burmese villager with whom Largo had an intense love affair four years earlier. Stunned, he determines to discover who is forcing Malunaï to lie, and to solve the mystery of his father's role in the atrocity. When he learns that Malunaï has been deported and is now in the hands of the General, Largo's convinced she will be killed. He arrives in Burma with a highly dangerous plan and time running out. At Makiling Military Camp he will learn Malunaï's incredible secret. And discover that his enemies' plot is even more twisted than he imagined.
It took me a while to figure out what to put in this review, and even now I’m not too sure what I want to put. At the end of the day BURMA CONSPIRACY was an OKAY film with nothing major wrong with it or anything the majorly stood out. It was basically a watchable action thriller with little much more to brag about. We have seen this kind of thing many times before HOWEVER this is not me saying I hated it as I managed to sit through it without wanting to turn it off.
The acting wasn’t bad, I found Tomer Sisley did a good job with our hero Largo Winch and the addition of Sharon Stone was just what you would expect, a small addition to pull in viewers. A film mostly French language with the odd bits of English and slight additions of other nationalities the film was a mixed grill of Foreign Thriller-ness but I will say it once more, there was nothing in this film to write home about.
There was a few cool action scenes with a mid air battle between Largo and an Assassin and a car chase that would make James Bond proud, so overall not a bad film.
Would I watch this a second time? Maybe in a few years time but I wouldn’t rush to sit through it again.
